Hypertension Management System HMS Client Server – The Analyzer for the Medical Practitioner

HMS CS is a high-performance desktop analyzer and patient management software for

application in the practitioner’s office, the hospital clinic, and also in clinical research. The main function of the software is to process 24 h long-time blood pressure measurement data, produce analyses of arterial stiffness and hemodynamics, display ECGs and provide an interface to the medical practice/clinic software.

Further Option to ABDM Routine: Arterial Stiffness and Hemodynamics
Integrated PWA (Pulse Wave Analysis) algorithms are now part of HMS CS. According to which class of Mobil-O-Graph is available, the PWA algorithms can be applied in analyzing arterial stiffness, thus achieving risk stratification of hypertonia sufferers via a one-off
measurement in the ABDM routine. A further option is to document, in addition to peripheral blood pressure, central hemodynamics and arterial stiffness over a 24h period at a freely editable HMS CS interval. This provides, for the first time, a hemodynamic day/night profile.
 
 

 
 
 
 
HMS CS - Monitoring in the Practitioner’s Office
Using the Mobil-O-Graph with the HMS CS enables immediate analysis of hypotensive or hypertensive events occurring in the medical practice. Once the cuff has been fitted and protocol 10 selected, via BT graphic, on-screen display of every value is available at freely editable blood pressure measurement intervals on the PC of the medical practioner. The freedom of movement which the patient has is ensured through the bidirectional BT interface (max.100m).

Important: This assumes that the medical practitioner’s PC includes an appropriate Class I BT (100m) interface

The Extension: 3-channel ECG Loop/Event Recorder
Beam® is an ECG Loop/Event Recorder for clarification of patient events or suspected arrhythmia. ECGs are recorded and saved either via stick-on electrodes or electrodes connected to the device housing. The Beam® Recorder transfers saved ECG events either to to the analysing software HMS CS in the medical practitioner’s office via Bluetooth, or ECG events are transmitted synchronized to the practitioner’s office via a mobile phone.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The Approach – ECG event training in the medical practitioner’s office
ECG event training with the Beam® Recorder is an efficient, fast and secure way to optimize ECG documentation. After a brief demonstration by the physician’s medical assistant, the patient will know how to log ECG data and transmit the data in a „live data transmission“ from the Beam® Recorder to the screen of the physician’s PC.
At the next visit to the doctor, the data are transferred to the HMS software and analysed.
 
                                                                                 
 
HMS CS supports the interventional telemetric clinic
Doctors managing patients with the aid of interventional telemetry enjoy automatic access to the telemetric data stored by the patient to the e-health analysis database via synchronisation. In bidirectional synchronisation, the network protocol TCP/IP is applied.
On completing HMS CS installation, the user configures access to his HMS CS. Data reconciliation between HMS CS and the e-health analysis database is a secure Https process and is executed under state-of-the-art, rigourous data protection conditions and encoding technology. Patient ID mapping for patient management by the treating practitioner is only executed on the certificated HMS CS.
 
This means that ECG, blood pressure and weight data remain available for therapy decisions both inside and outside the practice.
 
HMS CS interfaces: Device Read-in/Out
There are a number of options for communication between the measuring device and a PC:
·         Via cable (via RS232 and USB 2.0)
·         Infrared
·         Via Bluetooth (Version 2.1)

While cable or infrared transmission is station-based, communication via Bluetooth allows a user-friendly and simple operation. Once set to communication mode, movement within a radius of approx. 10m around the evaluating station is possible, especially practical, for example, for monitoring blood pressure in the practice, a further function of the Mobil-O-Graph® NG.
 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Interface to Office and Clinic software

HMS CS provides a number of interfaces which enable communication to the practitioner’s office management software or hospital data systems.
GDT, XML und HL-7 are available as active communication options, while PDF and XLS enable manual analysis.

GDT (which is the German abbreviation for device data carrier)is the most used method of communication betweendifferent kinds ofmedical software in Germany. In the Version 2.1 standard, the entire diagnostic report from a single blood pressure measurement series is transmitted to the practice management system with optimum user-friendliness.

HL-7 - Health Level 7 is a globally established communication standard for medical software within hospital data systems. A so-called black box enables error-free transfer of the data from long-time blood pressure measurement series.

If desired, the automatic generation of PDF hardcopy, and also XLS (i.e. Excel format) generation of raw data, very often in so-called electronic patient files and/or as the basis for calculation in statistical investigations.
